The latest Blur Face update introduces Motion blur for photos and videos. You can now create the viral “blurry face” look: a directional blur that gives a face a streaked, motion-inspired effect.

Alongside the new effect, this version brings softer edges, more blur shapes, editing controls in one panel, and smoother photo previews. Here’s what’s new and how to try it.

Motion blur for photos and videos

Motion blur lets you adjust both blur length and direction. Use a shorter length for a subtle effect, or increase it for longer streaks. Change the direction to choose how the blur runs across the face.

The new effect works with photos, videos, batch edits, and brush strokes, so you can use it across different editing workflows.

More shapes and softer edges

Choose a blur shape that fits the area you want to edit:

  • Circle for a round blur area.
  • Oval for an elongated area.
  • Rectangle for a rectangular area.
  • Eye-covering to focus the effect on the eyes.

New edge softness controls help the blur blend more smoothly with the surrounding image. Adjust the softness to make the transition around the blur area gentler.

Easier editing in one panel

The editing panel now brings the main controls together:

  • Intensity to adjust the strength of the effect.
  • Area size to control how much of the image is covered.
  • Shape to choose the outline of the blur area.
  • Edge softness to adjust how the edges blend.

Photo previews are also smoother when you adjust the blur, making it easier to fine-tune the result as you edit.

  2. Choose Motion blur for the face or area you want to edit.
  3. Adjust the blur length and direction to create your preferred look.
  4. Fine-tune the intensity, area size, shape, and edge softness, then export your edit.
